The Pennsylvania College of Optometry today will announce that is becoming a university and changing its name.

Its new name will be Salus University; Salus is the Latin word for health and well-being. The school will continue to offer optometric programs and degrees, a full audiology program and a physician assistant program.

The change, which will be detailed at a press conference at 4 p.m. at the school's Elkins Park campus, reflects the school's strengthened curriculum and new programs.
