Philadelphia police have released the names of two people who died in accidents on Saturday.

At about 5:40 p.m., a 65-year-old woman was struck by a SEPTA bus while she was crossing 54th Street in West Philadelphia. Her heart stopped at the scene, and she was later pronounced dead at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood.

At about 10:40 p.m., a car heading east on Red Lion Road near Northeast Philadelphia Airport struck a curb, flipped, slammed into a tree and caught on fire, police said.

A 21-year-old passenger was thrown from the vehicle, but lost a leg in the accident. He was initially in critical condition at Frankford Torresdale Hospital.

The driver, trapped inside, lost his life.

He was John Wilson, 22, of the 4900 block of Duffield Street in the city's East Frankford section.
