Man shot by ranger at Valley Forge

A man reportedly a fugitive from authorities was shot by a ranger at Valley Forge National Historical Park last night. The man was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after the 7:30 p.m. shooting and underwent surgery. There was no immediate report on his condition.

According to several reports, the ranger, whose name authorities did not release, stopped the man, who was driving an SUV. After the man reached for what is believed to have been a gun, the ranger fired twice.

It was unclear last night what the man was wanted for. Tredyffrin Township police were investigating.
