Phila. police arrest 3 in homicides

Philadelphia police have arrested three men they say were involved in three unrelated fatal attacks. Detectives from the Homicide Fugitive Squad on Monday arrested Kevin Weaver, 22, of the 5300 block of Locust Street.

Detectives from the Homicide Fugitive Squad on Monday arrested Kevin Weaver, 22, of the 5300 block of Locust Street.

Weaver is charged with murder in the March 8 slaying of Idris Jackson, 21, of Overbrook. Police said Jackson was shot in the head and multiple times in the body while in the 5200 block of Irving Street.

About 5:30 a.m. yesterday, fugitive-squad detectives and members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Dennis Johnson, 23, of Chambersburg, Pa.

Johnson was charged with murder in the slaying of Kenyatta Smith, 26, of North Philadelphia. Smith was shot in the chest about 3:15 a.m. Aug. 17, 2007, at 30th Street and Lehigh Avenue, police said.

Also yesterday, detectives arrested Tyree Wilson, 20, of the 1900 block of Nichols Street, in the shooting deaths of Hassan Baldwin, 25, and Daheem White, 21, both of North Philadelphia.

Baldwin was sitting in the driver's seat and White in a passenger seat of a burgundy Ford Taurus parked on the 1300 block of North 10th Street when they were shot Feb. 23.

Baldwin was shot multiple times in the body and head. White was shot multiple times in the chest and back.
