The death of a 20-year-old Royersford woman hit by an Amtrak train Wednesday night in Chester County has been ruled a suicide, authorities said.

Emily Nicole Greenfield died of multiple traumatic injuries, the Chester County Coroner's Office said Thursday. Amtrak police and local police are continuing to investigate, said Craig Schulz, an Amtrak spokesman.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. near SEPTA's Devon station. Greenfield was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:40 p.m., according to the coroner's office.

The train had been traveling from Harrisburg to New York with about 100 passengers on board, Schulz said. The passengers were put on other trains.

SEPTA suspended its Paoli/Thorndale Line for almost two hours Wednesday night, a spokesman said. - Michaelle Bond
