Lonzo Ball roasts LaVar Ball in Father's Day-themed shoe ad
The talented point guard leaves no doubt that he understands how much of an over-the-top loudmouth his father is.

I am firmly in the camp with those who would be perfectly happy if LaVar Ball would stop talking for a while and let his supremely talented son Lonzo take center stage. That's been true since Lonzo exploded onto the scene at UCLA, and it remains true as the NBA draft approaches.
So I was thrilled to see a new online ad in which Lonzo leaves no doubt that he understands how much of an over-the-top loudmouth his father is.
It's an ad for a shoe company, timed to Father's Day this Sunday. (I'd name the shoe company but I'd rather it buy an ad from us instead of getting a free one, and you're going to see it in the embedded tweet below anyway.)
Ball, Kentucky's De'Aaron Fox, Florida State's Jonathan Isaac and Duke's Jayson Tatum – any of whom would look good in a Sixers uniform, by the way – were asked to share memories of what their fathers meant to them while growing up.
They all said great things, but Ball stole the show. Of course, it was probably – okay, it was actually – set up that way. Still, it's worth a look.
"Of course, there's that big day when your dad berates your high school coach in front of an entire crowd for not giving you enough touches," Ball says. "Or that special moment when your dad sits you down and tells you where you're going to college; copyrights your name to make it a part of a family lifestyle brand; went on First Take and shouted back and forth with Stephen A. Smith about how you're already better than the reigning league MVP. All those interviews from the stands during college games; the public spats with all-time greats; sound bite after sound bite to the national media; and then tells 29 out of 30 teams to not bother drafting me."
Yeah, that's pretty good. Watch the video here. You'll get a good laugh out of it.
