FORMER TEMPLE safety Lafton Thompson died on Monday at his home in Norristown after a 2 1/2-year battle with cancer. He was 34.
A 4-year letter-winner from 1999-2002 under coach Bobby Wallace, Thompson played in 41 games. He finished his career with 183 tackles, 21 1/2 tackles for loss, five interceptions and three forced fumbles.
Thompson is survived by two children, Kendal (8) and Lance (2). Donations are being accepted by the Lafton Thompson Foundation (416 East Marshall Street, Norristown, Pa. 19401).
