Temple's basketball team will host an exhibition game against Division II Jefferson, with all the proceeds benefiting charity.

In July, Philadelphia University integrated with Thomas Jefferson University to become Jefferson.

The teams will play 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 at the Liacouras Center. All ticket sales from the game will be donated to One America Appeal to benefit those impacted by the recent hurricanes that hit Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico.

Temple requested a waiver from the NCAA to play this additional contest for charity and it was approved.

"When the opportunity presented itself to play an exhibition game to raise money for the people suffering from the recent hurricanes in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico, we knew right away that we needed to be a part of it," Temple head coach Fran Dunphy said in a statement released by the university.  "I called my good friend, Herb Magee, one of the most respected men in the business, and he felt the same way. This gives our fans a rare opportunity to see our programs compete while also helping out those in need."

Magee, a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, is entering his 51st season as head coach at the school.

Temple doesn't open its regular season until Nov. 16 when the Owls will face Old Dominion in the Charleston (S.C.) Classic.

Jefferson opens its regular season Nov. 3 in California against Concordia in the Sports Anaheim D-II Tip-Off Classic.

Temple last met Jefferson when the school was known as Philadelphia Textile, on Jan. 17, 1976. The Owls, who were coached by Don Casey, lost, 70-58 at the Palestra.
