Frank Nutile to again start at QB for Temple
Nutile will be making his second straight start for injured QB Logan Marchi.
Redshirt junior Frank Nutile will make his second career and second consecutive start at quarterback for Temple this week, head coach Geoff Collins announced Monday during an American Athletic Conference media call.
After a bye week, the Owls will resume action at 8 p.m. Thursday when they host Navy in an AAC game at Lincoln Financial Field.
Nutile made his first start in Temple's last game, a 31-28 overtime loss at Army on Oct. 21. He completed 20 of 29 passes for 290 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. Nutile was replacing Logan Marchi, who has an unspecified injury. Marchi had started seven games for Owls, who are 3-5 overall, 1-3 in the AAC.
"It will be Frank," Collins said. "Logan is not really available and isn't 100 percent."
Against Army, Marchi did hold for extra points and field goals but saw no other action.
Navy (5-2, 3-2) is also coming off a bye week.
The Midshipmen will have their starting quarterback, Zach Abey, who suffered a head injury in Navy's most recent game, a 31-21 home loss to Central Florida on Oct. 21.
"He practiced all last week and is ready to go," Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo said on the conference call.
Temple is battling numerous injuries, and Collins said he hopes he will get some players back but won't know until talking to the medical staff.
Against Army, Temple started just one offensive lineman, right tackle Cole Boozer, who was a starter in the opening game of the season.
