Phillies RHP Joe Blanton has been claimed off waivers and traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Blanton joined the Phillies in 2008 and was part of the team's World Series squad. He was 34-25 with a 4.47 ERA with the Phillies.

Kyle Kendrick will start tonight for the Phillies in place of Blanton. B.J. Rosenberg has been recalled from triple-A Lehigh Valley to fill Blanton's roster spot.
