Katie Adams grew up in Huntingdon Valley but Chestnut Hill has long been a significant part of her life.
She and her sister, Bridget, went to school in the area, so when the time came to buy a house together, the three-bedroom, 1½-bathroom brick rowhouse on a wide street in Chestnut Hill was a natural fit.
They bought it in 2009 and have lived there since, using their flair for interior decorating to make improvements over the years.
And now that they have decided to buy a larger home, they know it will also be in Chestnut Hill.
The neighborhood is friendly “but people give you your space,” said Katie, an administrator for the family’s real estate business. Bridget is a school reading specialist.
It’s a walkable neighborhood, Katie said, with tennis courts nearby that both have used, and quick access to the commercial area of Germantown Avenue.
“When you come home from work, you don’t need the car. And the Wyndmoor [Regional Rail] station is almost in our backyard.”
The house has hardwood floors throughout and a spacious living room with large windows and glass doors that let in abundant natural light.
The kitchen has wood cabinetry, granite countertops, a tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances, and a gas range.
The bedrooms are on the second floor, all with closet organizers, and the upstairs bathroom has a quartz vanity and polished chrome fixtures, and there is a powder room on the first floor.
The basement is partly finished, and has a laundry room with a washer and a dryer. There is also workout space.
There is a central air, and the property is thoroughly landscaped.
