Mass shooting during NBA title celebration leaves 10 injured in Denver
Three victims were hospitalized in critical condition, Denver police said. A suspect was in custody.
DENVER — At least 10 people — including a suspect — were injured in an overnight shooting in downtown Denver as street celebrations after the Nuggets’ NBA championship victory turned potentially deadly.
Three victims were hospitalized in critical condition, Denver police said, after multiple shots were fired near the intersection of Market and 20th Streets. Police took a “possible suspect” into custody, and said that person also had a suspected gunshot injury.
Other shootings were reported near downtown Monday on Tremont and Blake Streets as thousands of people gathered about a mile north of Ball Arena, where the Nuggets beat the Miami Heat to win the NBA championship.
A parade is planned for Thursday morning downtown featuring Nuggets players on floats.
