Nike sets March release date for Kobe 5 Protro 'Lower Merion Aces'
The sneaker will feature Lower Merion’s maroon and white jersey colors.
Nike’s Kobe 5 Protro “Lower Merion Aces” shoe has an official release date set for later this month.
The sneaker, which pays homage to Kobe Bryant’s high school alma mater, will hit the market on March 23, according to Sneaker News. The shoe will feature Lower Merion’s maroon and white jersey colors.
Mock-ups of the shoe have been released since the original announcement in May, and the shoe will feature Bryant’s No. 33 on the back right heel, an ace symbol on the back left heel, a metallic silver and team red-white base color, and the late basketball player’s signature just above the midsole. The shoelaces are maroon with white dot designs, and the midsole is half white, half maroon.
The Kobe 5 Protro “Lower Merion Aces” will become the eighth shoe that Bryant dedicated to his former high school, joining the Kobe 4 “Lower Merion,” Kobe 5 “Lower Merion (home),” Kobe 5 “Lower Merion (away),” Kobe 6 “Lower Merion,” Kobe 7 “Lower Merion Aces,” Kobe 11 “Lower Merion,” and the Nike Hyperdunk “Lower Merion” PE.
Lower Merion retired Bryant’s No. 33 high school jersey in 2002, and the Hall of Famer and former Los Angeles Lakers star made a large donation to the school in 2010. The high school gym was renamed the Kobe Bryant Gymnasium that same year.
The latest sneaker will drop on the Nike SNKRS app and at Nike Basketball retailers for $200.
