Sixers star VJ Edgecombe named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month
Edgecombe averaged 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.2 steals in 13 games in March, and spent significant time as the Sixers’ lead ballhandler and top scoring option.

VJ Edgecombe is the Eastern Conference’s Rookie of the Month for March, the NBA announced Thursday.
It is the first NBA monthly award for Edgecombe, who is coming down the stretch of a terrific debut season for the 76ers. He averaged 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.2 steals in 13 games in March, and spent significant time as the Sixers’ lead ballhandler and top scoring option while All-Star point guard Tyrese Maxey was sidelined with a finger injury. That included scoring a career-high 38 points and adding 10 assists in a March 19 win at the Sacramento Kings.

Edgecombe has lived up to his status as the third overall pick in the 2025 draft. He became an immediate starter for the Sixers and is averaging 16.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists while playing nearly 35 minutes per game. He was also named the MVP of the Rising Stars event at All-Star Weekend.
The Sixers (42-34) will play a home back-to-back against the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons on Friday and Saturday.
