Philadelphia Phillies Betting Analysis

With the 2022 World Series upon us now, we’ve gone through and taken a look at the Philadelphia Phillies’ recent MLB campaign, analyzing their results from this season, as well as how they fared on the spread, moneyline and totals in the 2022 campaign ahead of the World Series.

Philadelphia Phillies 2022 MLB Season

The Phillies have had an impressive season up until this point, with Philadelphia ending the regular season with a record of 87-75, putting them third in the NL East, behind both the Braves and Mets.

They qualified for the Wildcard round of the playoffs. The Phillies have won eight of their 10 playoff games since, beating all of the Cardinals, Braves and Padres to make the World Series.

The Phillies are now up against the high-flying Astros in the World Series. Philadelphia put up a 1-2 record against the Astros during the regular season.

Kyle Schwarber and Rhys Hoskins have been in formidable form for the Phillies’ offense so far this term, with Bryce Harper also stepping up his game during the postseason to help Philly make the World Series.

Moneyline Analysis

Philadelphia Phillies Moneyline: 87-75

The Phillies surprised many with their performances during the regular season, as they finished with a Pct of .537, winning 87 of their 162 games, with most of these coming at home.

They managed to secure one of the last Wildcard spots to make the Playoffs, with the Phillies winning eight of their 10 outings to make the World Series since then.

Spread Analysis

Philadelphia Phillies Spread: 89-84

The Phillies were decent this year when it comes to the spread, boasting a record over .500 on the spread overall, winning five more games than they lost on this market.

Their spread record wasn’t the best when Philly were the favorites this term, winning just 50 of their 111 games, losing the other 61, while their record when underdogs stands at 39-23, numbers that see them boast one of the best cover percentages in the league.

They failed to perform when being favorites at home, covering the spread in just 32 of their 69 home games, while their home underdog records stands at 11-6.

They were 18-24 as the away favorite with the spread, with their away underdog record being 28-17, one of the best in the league, something that bodes well for spread bettors as the Phillies head into the World Series given they’re playing four away games, and will most likely be the underdog in those outings.

Totals Analysis

Philadelphia Phillies Over/Under: 89-79-5

The Phillies were the second-best team in the league when covering the over in their games last year, managing to do so in 53% of their games, with only the Mets managing a better record.

This, in turn, means they covered the Under in just 47% of games, the second-least in the league, with Phillies game often being more exciting than the bookies expected them to be.

Their home record when it comes to covering the Over was pretty good, with them ending the regular season with a 44-37-5 record, while their away record was 45-42, with Philly often given both sets of fans their money’s worth when it comes to delivering runs.

Philadelphia Phillies: The History

The Phillies have a pretty impressive history, with their first season coming all the way back in 1883, a season in which they were originally called the Philadelphia Quakers.

They changed their name to the Phillies in 1890, remaining the same ever since, with Philly then needing to wait 25 years to make their first Playoff appearance.

The Phillies have had a pretty strange history with the Playoffs, making the postseason 15 times in their history, making the World Series in eight of these campaigns, a very impressive record.

They’ve won two of these eight World Series appearances, with their most recent victory coming in the 2008 campaign, with this year being their first Playoff appearance since 2011.

Philadelphia have played host to a number of brilliant players over the years, with the likes of Bryce Harper, Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton just some of the players to suit up for the Phillies over the years.
