Temple’s Derrian Ford is named third-team all-conference
Ford also made the American all-newcomer team. He led Temple in scoring this season, averaging 18.2 points.

Temple guard Derrian Ford was named to the All-American Conference third team on Tuesday. He also earned a spot on the American all-newcomer team, which was voted on by the conference’s 13 coaches.
Ford finished the regular season fourth in scoring in the conference, averaging 18.2 points. The senior scored at least 20 points in 14 games and recorded a season-high 27 points against St. Joseph’s in the Big 5 Classic third-place game on Dec. 6. He also is second on the Owls in rebounds at 4.4 per game.
The native of Magnolia, Ark., spent two seasons at Arkansas State before transferring to Temple. He played his freshman year at Arkansas.
During his time at Arkansas State, Ford played under current South Florida coach Bryan Hodgson, who earned American Conference coach of the year, and was teammates with South Florida forward Izaiyah Nelson, this year’s player of the year.
Temple (16-15) will open the conference tournament in Birmingham, Ala., against Florida Atlantic (17-14) on Wednesday at 9 p.m. (ESPN+).
