NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Kate Scott won’t call Sixers-Hornets
In addition to being the TV voice of the Sixers, Scott is the USA Network's lead broadcaster on the WNBA.

As the television voice of the Phillies, Tom McCarthy has clocked plenty of hours on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Now his son is getting more time on the network.
Pat McCarthy will fill in for 76ers announcer Kate Scott when the Sixers take on the Hornets Saturday night down in Charlotte. He’ll call the game alongside Alaa Abdelnaby, with new courtside reporter Tom Haberstroh offering updates from Spectrum Arena.
McCarthy just finished up his fourth season as the pre- and postgame host for New York Mets radio broadcasts on WCBS. Prior to that, he was the radio voice of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the Phillies’ triple-A team.
This isn’t the first time McCarthy has filled in for Scott. Last year, he called a fairly unremarkable Sixers loss to the Miami Heat along Abdelnaby. He’s also filled in for his dad a few times calling Phillies games.
So where will Scott be? About 2,400 miles away in Los Angeles calling Game 7 of the WNBA Finals between the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries on USA Network. Joining her on the broadcast are analysts Sarah Kustok and Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings, the first all-woman Finals broadcasting crew in the league’s 30-year history.
Scott was on the microphone Thursday afternoon calling the Dream’s Game 6 win against the Valkyries in the WNBA Finals, and offered a generous shoutout to longtime ESPN announcers Ryan Ruocco, Rebecca Lobo, and Holly Rowe.
“We are not here without our friends at ESPN,” Scott said.
Scott, in her fifth season as the TV voice of the Sixers, is finishing up her first season as the lead broadcaster on USA Network’s WNBA coverage. The 43-year-old has certainly shown her versatility over the years, doing play-by-play for the NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA football, NWSL, the Olympics, and the World Cup. She’s also a voice on Madden.
Scott also won’t call Friday night’s NBA Cup matchup against the New York Knicks at Xfinity Mobile Arena, but it has nothing to do with her WNBA schedule. The game is streaming exclusively on Amazon’s Prime Video, one of 17 national games this season NBC Sports Philadelphia will miss out on.
Calling tonight’s Sixers-Knicks game on Amazon will be Ian Eagle and Stan Van Gundy, with Cassidy Hubbarth reporting from the court at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
The Sixers will be back on Prime Video next week to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers, but that game will also air on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
