What you should know
  1. The Eagles have been quiet so far in free agency, adding cornerback Riq Woolen and tight end Johnny Mundt. Here’s a full Eagles free agency tracker.

  2. Jalen Carter might soon join friend Jordan Davis with a contract extension. Davis is focused on becoming an “all-time Eagles great.”

  3. The pressure is on the Eagles’ Georgia trio as Howie Roseman passes on Maxx Crosby and Trey Hendrickson, writes columnist Marcus Hayes.

  4. Five things to know about new Eagles CB Riq Woolen, from costly trash talking to his wide receiver roots.

The Eagles still have needs. These remaining free agents could address them.

The Eagles kicked off the new league year on Wednesday with something short of fireworks — sparklers? — when they made official the additions of cornerback Riq Woolen and tight end Johnny Mundt and welcomed back tight end Grant Calcaterra. But they’re far from finished with their free-agent moves.

Which remaining free agents could address needs for the Eagles?

Tony Dungy out at NBC after 17 years

NFL teams aren’t alone in making roster moves this week.

NBC is making changes to Football Night in America, its Sunday Night Football pregame show, which includes saying goodbye to Hall of Fame head coach Tony Dungy.

“It’s disappointing news but I want to thank my NBC family for making the last 17 years so special,” Dungy wrote on social media Thursday morning. “I’ll have lasting memories of my time there, especially with Rodney Harrison who has become a tremendous friend.”

Eagles are betting Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis will continue to ascend together

Jalen Carter watched from an auditorium seat as Jordan Davis took to the podium. It wasn’t difficult to imagine an alternative scenario in which the longtime teammates swapped spots, or even sat next to each other on stage.

The two are, in many ways, bound together.

The Eagles selected the former Georgia defensive tackles in the first round of successive drafts, first and foremost, for their freakish abilities. But Carter probably wouldn’t be in Philadelphia if it weren’t for Davis. And Davis, in turn, might not have become the highest-paid nose tackle in NFL history if it weren’t for Carter.

Brandon Graham says he’ll be back next season

Did anyone expect otherwise?

Eagles veteran Brandon Graham appears ready to come back for a 17th season after unretiring to return to the Birds. And his goal is to win another Super Bowl

“Hopefully we can win another in my last season coming up,” Graham said Wednesday at a reception for Hall of Fame coach Dick Vermeil at the Mission Capitalist Club in Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark.

Jihaad Campbell sidelined with injury, according to Vic Fangio

Eagles linebacker Jihaad Campbell will be sidelined for months while he deals with a serious shoulder injury, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio told NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark Wednesday.

“He is dealing with a shoulder injury, he’s gonna miss probably most of the offseason,” Fangio said at a reception for Hall of Fame coach Dick Vermeil at the Mission Capitalist Club in Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County.

“So we’re gonna have to cram it into him in training camp. And hopefully we have enough work to get that done for him.”

Eagles get more time to work on Dallas Goedert deal

It is officially the new NFL league year, but Dallas Goedert is not yet a free agent.

A league source confirmed a report from The Athletic that the void date on Goedert’s contract has been pushed back to Friday. The void date was initially set to go into effect at midnight as Tuesday turned to Wednesday, which would have triggered about $20.5 million in dead money against the Eagles’ cap.

According to Over the Cap, the Eagles can’t technically push back the void date but are instead using the extra time to come to terms on a new deal before they’re forced to release him.

Three days into NFL free agency, 10 former Eagles players have yet to sign with any team, including the Birds

The list includes fullback Ben VanSumeren, who became an unrestricted free agent after the Eagles failed to tender him an offer.

It also includes punter Braden Mann, who has averaged 49.5 yards per punt during his three years with the Eagles, the best mark in team history.
