Eagles need an edge rusher, but a trade for Maxx Crosby remains unlikely
Why might the Eagles be hesitant to trade for Maxx Crosby after the Las Vegas Raiders’ deal with the Baltimore Ravens fell through? Well, perhaps for the same reasons why they didn’t trade for him in the first place.
Two first-round picks was a steep price for a 29-year-old edge rusher who ended his last two seasons with surgeries. If the Raiders are still looking for the same return for Crosby, it seems unlikely that the Eagles would be willing to meet their asking price.
Even if that price comes down, would the Eagles have confidence in Crosby’s long-term health? Crosby would soon be due for a contract restructure given that he only has guaranteed money left in 2026, so if his long-term prognosis is poor, why would a team sacrifice premium draft capital for potentially a single year of a player, even one of his caliber?

Ravens agree to terms with Trey Hendrickson after Maxx Crosby reversal
Matt Pryor, offensive line: Pryor returned to the Eagles, who drafted him in 2018, for the 2025 season after moving between three teams in four years. After starting one game (and playing 12% of the offensive snaps) last season, he's headed to the Arizona Cardinals on a one-year deal, according to NFL Network.
Eagles add some defensive help with Super Bowl champ Riq Woolen
The Eagles are making a short-term yet significant investment at their vacant outside cornerback spot opposite Quinyon Mitchell, agreeing to terms with former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen on a one-year deal, a league source confirmed to The Inquirer.
The deal is reportedly worth up to $15 million, according to ESPN.
Woolen, who turns 27 in May, was one of the top pending free-agent cornerbacks set to become available at the start of the new league year on Wednesday. He spent the last four seasons with the Super Bowl-winning Seahawks, the team that drafted him in the fifth round out of the University of Texas-San Antonio in 2022.

Dallas Goedert's uncertain future as Birds agree to terms with two tight ends
Why did the Eagles’ running game take a step back in 2025? A banged-up offensive line was a big issue, but they also did not get good enough blocking from the tight end position.
On the second day of the NFL’s legal tampering period, Howie Roseman made a move to try to rectify that.
The Eagles — an NFL source confirmed an NFL Network report — agreed to a one-year deal with Johnny Mundt, who played last season with Jacksonville after five seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and three with the Minnesota Vikings.

Eagles still have holes to fill on defense
By adding former Seattle Seahawks corner back Riq Woolen, the Eagles fill a need in their secondary, as former starting outside cornerback Adoree’ Jackson was set to become a free agent. Last season, Cooper DeJean played outside cornerback in base defense, then moved to the slot in nickel packages with Jackson on the outside. Now, with Woolen in the equation, DeJean could play nickel full-time, or even slot in at safety in base, a role Vic Fangio had tinkered with last summer.
The Eagles have other needs to address on the back end, most notably a starting safety after Reed Blankenship reportedly agreed to a three-year, $24.75 million deal with the Houston Texans.
The defense also has a need at edge rusher, with Jaelan Phillips reportedly departing for the Carolina Panthers on a four-year, $120 million contract.
Latest on Ravens nixing blockbuster trade for Maxx Crosby
The blockbuster trade sending star pash rusher Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens is off — and the fallout from that reversal could have a ripple effect throughout the NFL on the eve of the new league year.
As of now, the Raiders plan to honor their agreements to the free agents they've made deals with and don't plan to trade Crosby on a discount to another team, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.
The Raiders said Tuesday night that Baltimore backed out of the trade that was supposed to send Crosby to the Ravens for two first-round draft picks. The deal was agreed to last Friday but couldn’t be finalized until Wednesday.
