Each Friday, Inquirer photo editors pick the best sports images from the last seven days. And what a week it was. The Flyers upset their cross-state rivals in the first round of the playoffs, getting out to a 3-0 lead and hanging on to eliminate the Penguins in Game 6 Wednesday night. The Sixers, meanwhile, fought to keep their playoff hopes alive against the Celtics as Joel Embiid returned earlier than expected from an appendectomy.
And neither of those may have the biggest long-term impact on Philly sports. That honor goes to the Phillies, who fired Rob Thomson after four years at the helm, and installed bench coach Don Mattingly as the interim manager. Elsewhere, the Penn Relays wrapped up at Franklin Field and the Eagles introduced their draft picks.
