Vernick Coffee Bar

Bakery, Cafe, Breakfast$

Chef Greg Vernick’s coffee bar in the upper lobby of the Comcast Technology Center is much more than a coffee bar. The spot offers a number of house-made grab-and-go breakfast items — including creamy coconut chia-açaí parfaits and potent juice shots for the health-conscious — but the pastry case is where it’s at, from sugar-crusted kouign-amanns oozing strawberry-passion fruit caramel to gingery matcha green tea croissants rolled around ribbons of white chocolate. Posh as it is (see the ossobuco-style short ribs, the mushroom and avocado grain bowl, etc.), Vernick Coffee also pays affordable homage to Philly’s blue-collar breakfast classic with the “corner store egg-and-cheese.”
