Penn Wood High School’s sports programs suspended due to an incident that ‘implicates culture and climate’
The William Penn School District says it will appoint an outside investigator to "objectively evaluate the information.”

On Thursday evening, William Penn School District announced in a statement that it suspended all Penn Wood High School athletic activities to investigate an alleged incident that implicated a “culture and climate” issue.
Penn Wood’s varsity football team announced it would forfeit its Friday night game against Chichester High School before the statement was released.
“In response to information received about an alleged incident that implicates culture and climate in athletics, the William Penn School District has appointed an outside investigator to objectively evaluate the information,” the statement read. “In the meantime, all Penn Wood High School athletic activities are suspended.”
The statement did not specifically identify who or what is being investigated.
The school district also included in the statement that it will conduct “a fair and thorough review under applicable district policies” and will survey student-athletes to help with the review.
William Penn School District does not have a superintendent after Dr. Eric J. Becoats retired, which was effective Aug. 3.
As of Aug. 28, the William Penn Board of School Directors have not appointed an interim superintendent.
