2 dead, 3 injured in East Germantown crash that involved 7 vehicles
A Nissan heading west on Godfrey Avenue at a “very high rate of speed” struck a Honda traveling south on 20th Street, police said.

Two people were killed and three others injured in a crash involving two moving vehicles and five other vehicles that were parked Monday night in the East Germantown section of Philadelphia, police said.
At 8:03 p.m., a Nissan heading west on Godfrey Avenue at a “very high rate of speed” struck a Honda traveling south on 20th Street, Chief Inspector Scott Small said Monday night.
The male driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene by 8:13 p.m. Philadelphia Fire Department medics rushed three other occupants of the Nissan to Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital. One, a 19-year-old, died at 8:41 p.m. from injuries suffered in the crash. The two other occupants were in critical condition late Monday. Small described all the occupants as male, but further information about them was not available Tuesday.
A 72-year-old woman who was driving the Honda was taken to Temple University Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, Small said.
A parked box truck that was not occupied sustained heavy front-end damage, Small said. At least five legally parked vehicles were hit in the crash.
