The Phillies’ high hopes are dashed by the Dodgers, the Eagles suffer a pair of bad losses, and the Union get some hardware in our best sports photos of the week.

Each Friday, Inquirer photo editors pick the best Philly sports images from the last seven days. While some past week’s featured a lot of winning, that wasn’t quite the case among the city’s team’s this past week: capped off by Thursday night’s triple-loss that included the Phillies being eliminated by the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Eagles falling to a lesser division rival in the New York Giants, and the Flyers losing their season opener to the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
And on a short turnaround for the Birds, their prime-time loss was actually their second in the past week. But, hey, at least there’s the Union, who clinched the best record in MLS and raised the second Supporters Shield in franchise history.
