Kim Kardashian app generates $43 Million in three months

It collected $1.6 million within the first five days of its launch, Glu said.

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Kim Kardashian's popularity isn't showing any signs of a decline -- at least not on mobile platforms.

The free-to-play app-based game "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood" has generated $43.3 million in sales from its launch on June 27 through the end of September.

Downloaded over 22.8 million times, the game enables players to live the life of an A-list celebrity, with players making in-app purchases to upgrade their characters -- like a house in Malibu for $10.

It collected $1.6 million within the first five days of its launch, Glu said.

The impressive sales figure was released by San Francisco-based Glu Mobile as it announced its third-quarter results -- the "Kardashian" game earned more last quarter than 10 other Glu games, which include "Deer Hunter," "Dino Hunter" and "Diner Dash," combined.

"Kardashian's" success signals Glu's future could rest on the shoulders of other celebrities. And other bold-faced names are surely considering how to make their personalities translate as a mobile game.

Glu had previously predicted that the Kardashian game would generate $200 million in sales by the end of the year. So far, it has a way to go, but that figure could be within reach now that a version of the game has been released for Android-powered devices -- Google's software is on around 80% of the world's smart phones and tablets.

The game is now also available on Facebook.

On Apple devices alone, however, the game's already logged over 1.2 billion sessions, with players spending over 5.7 billion minutes on the app.

It is not known just how much Kardashian is earning from the revenue-sharing deal with Glu. Analysts have put the figure at around $700,000 a day.

Regardless of exact figures, it's a lucrative deal that Kardashian isn't looking to leave. The celebrity inked a new three-year pact with Glu to develop the game, as well as other titles.
