U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak, a Democrat whose 7th District is based in Delaware County, has been prominently mentioned as a possible candidate for the Senate in 2010 amid the frenzy of speculation touched off by MSNBC yakker Chris Matthews' flirtation with the race.

But he sounds as though he doesn't intend to go anywhere in a statement issued by his office.

Via spokesman Jonathon Dworkin: Congressman Sestak is honored to be rehired to represent the 7th Congressional District of Pennsylvania. His absolute focus at present is addressing the nation’s pressing economic crisis, and bringing unprecedented accountability, transparency, and bi-partisanship to the 111th Congress…and to future Congresses in the House of Representatives.”

That last bit implies he's not going anywhere, though of course the door remains open a crack.
