Some DNC VIPs are getting a perk from Uber
Some Democratic National Convention bigwigs are getting a special perk from Uber when they come to Philadelphia next week.
The ride hailing app giant is going to act as dispatcher for the "Stars & Stripes Uber Experience." The offer is available to a select number of "attendees, delegates, and party leaders," picked by the DNC, Uber said in a statement. These VIPs will have access to a modified app they can use to hail a rental car driven by a DNC volunteer. These aren't UberX drivers, or anyone else who drives for Uber's array of products. Because DNC volunteers are the drivers the rides will be free of charge, Uber said, part of the company's partnership with the DNC.
The DNC didn't respond Wednesday afternoon when asked who these chosen few are, or how they were picked. It's something we'll try to get more information about.
