Snow Dance

Overheard in my house:

Son No. 1: "So we wear our pajamas inside-out and sleep with spoons under our pillows?"

Son No. 2: "Yeah, that way there's no school tomorrow."

Mother: "One way to make sure there IS school is to not do your homework tonight."

I had never heard about the inside-out jammies and the spoons before yesterday. Must be a regionalism. Seems to have worked though. One of my kids had 4 spoons (varying sizes) under the pillow.

Very cute! My kids told me about the snow dance and the jammies inside-out, but they also mentioned something about flushing the toilet three times as well.

well my whole school does "the snow dance". yeah it is not original, but we make sure everyone does it, we remind everyone through AIM. No matter if you are a geek, nerd, preepy, jocks,or goths...you still do it. it is a tradition in our town. it will always be!

Well, sort of like a rain dance, lots of loose-limbed flopping around with hunched backs and a low chant. The boys are part Cherokee, so maybe they're spiriting it from the other side of the family.

This is the absolute best way to get snow!
1. Take your heaviest school book and drop it on the floor three times.
2. Turn your lights on and off three times to "Twist and Shout" by The Beatles.
3. Throw ice cubes at your neighbor's dog.
4. Do a dance. A crazy dance! And it's required that someone in your family asks you if you're crazy.
5. Sleep in for a SNOW DAY!!!!!!!

Ok. This is what WE do to get some of the white stuff on the ground...

1. Wear your pajamas inside-out and/or backwards.

2. Put ice cubes in the toilet.(flush if you want)

3. Put rosary beads in your snowboots.

4. Hang a pair of ice skates on your door.

5. Do a snow dance in front of - or with - your refrigerator; whichever you prefer.

6. Put spoons under your pillow. (dont to forget to return the spoons. Our mom always gets mad when we dont)

7. Last but not least, kick back relax and enjoy the snow!

but what is the snow dance
Becca

I tried the snow dance below and it only sometimes works, mabey I've been doing the wrong snow dance all along!
The entire danced is performed in a low posture as if you are snowboarding. The first step is to lift your left foot off the ground while raising your right hand and elbow up like a salute to your forehead. Return your left foot and right hand while lifting your right foot and left hand the same way for Step 2. Steps 3 and 4 are the same as Steps 1 and 2, you should repeat this sequence of four steps twice.
This one is easy. As if you are looking for something, bring your hand up to your brow and search. The first step you search to the right, and lean into it. The second step, you search to the left. It looks as if you are searching for snow. Steps three and 4 are the same. Repeat this sequence of steps twice.
Again this is easy. First step, hold both of your arms out to the right and wave them in a hula motion, as if the wind is coming and blowing them to the right. Step to is the same to the left, make sure to make the transition smooth as if the wind has changed directions. Again, steps three and four are the same. Repeat this sequence of 4 twice.
The fourth sequence is crucial. Raise your hands high in the air and then, waving them quickly as if to mimic snow falling then, you slowly lower your arms down to the ground. Go from standing on the tips of your toes and follow your hands all the way down to the ground. When you get down there, jump up smoothly with the music in a triumphant ‘Japan Grab.’ The Japan Grab is when you jump off the ground and bend your knee so that your lower left leg so that your foot goes back and to the side, like a J, reach down quickly before you come back to the ground and grab your left foot to the side with your right hand. Your left hand should be raised in triumph. When you get back down to the ground, everyone claps once together. Then, repeat the whole dance from the beginning until you notice a drop in temperature.
Now I'll try the dances you suggested!
