New Orleans Jazz Fest lineup announced: Elton John, The Who, No Doubt, Dr. John, Wilco, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga among headliners

Can't hardly wait for springtime in the Crescent City.

The 2015 lineup for the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, which takes place in the Crescent City on the last weekend in April and first weekend in May, has been announced.

The list of A-list pop headliners playing the first weekend  at the Fairgrounds Race Track begins with Keith Urban, Wilco, The Who, John Legend, Ryan Adams, Mannie Fresh and Juvenile, Pitbull, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga and Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band. On the second, four day weekend, it continues with Alison Krauss & Union Station, No Doubt, Anthony Hamilton, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, T.I., Galactic fest. Macy Gray, Jerry Lee Lewis and Kacey Musgraves. Intriguingingly, the headlining spot on the final Sunday May 3 is listed as TBA, so there's one more headining spot to go.

As always, the real attraction at JazzFest will be hearing homegrown Louisiana acts performing in their native environment, and there's no shortage of those, from the original lineup of funk foursome The Meters, to Dr. John John paying tribute to Louis Armstrong, to Irma Thomas, Allen Toussaint and Trombone Shorty, all doing their thing in The City That Care Forgot.

Other acts of note: country hombre Sturgill Simpson, Philadelphia jazz bassist Christian McBride, jazz vocalist Cassandra Wilson, alt-country duo Shovels & Rope, raggue great Jimmy Cliff, West African singer Angelique Kidjo, outlaw country scion Shooter Jennings, Philly soul men, rising jazz star Cecile McLorin Salvant, blues giant Buddy Guy, Los Angeles bilingual roots band La Santa Cecilia, "Queen of Bounce" Big Freedia, brass bands Soul Rebels and Dirty Dozen, accordion squeezers Rockin' Dopsie Jr and Rosia Ledet, New Orleans trumpeters Irvin Mayfield and Terence Blanchard, and on and on.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.
