Eskin, Thomas to join Innes for new WIP afternoon trio

After weeks of tryouts and rotating guests, Sportsradio 94.1 WIP has found not one, but two replacements for Tony Bruno.

After weeks of tryouts and rotating guests, Sportsradio 94.1 WIP has found not one, but two replacements for Tony Bruno.

Josh Innes made it all official Thursday afternoon, announcing on his show that current program director Spike Eskin and host Hollis Thomas will replace his former co-host Tony Bruno, who retired suddenly last month from radio.

The new show, which will be called "The Josh Innes Show," will officially launch next Monday and air from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. "The Mike and Ike Show," featuring Michael Barkann and Ike Reese, will extend its on air time by an hour, and fill the station's 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. slot.

Thomas, a popular host and former Eagles player, impressed WIP management during his try out and has proven to have a good working relationship with Innes, something the boisterous host never really had with Bruno.

Sources say ex-congressman and former Eagles legend Jon Runyan will step in to replace Thomas, who co-hosted on weekends with Rob Charry and appeared on the WIP Morning Show with Angelo Cataldi. The only spot Runyan won't fill will be Saturday afternoons, when he'll be watching his son, Jon Runyan Jr., play guard for Michigan.

Eskin, son of polarizing sports radio figure Howard Eskin, will add his new co-hosting duties to his already-full plate as the station's program director. In fact, management is looking forward to Eskin pairing the sensibilities he's learned in his current job with the on-air chaos Innes has become known for.

Eskin took to Twitter to announce the new trio:

Prior to becoming WIP's program director, Eskin served as the CBS Philly Sports Editor, WIP social media editor and host, and KYW Newsradio fill in sports anchor. Eskin also hosts the popular Rights To Ricky Sanchez podcast.
