Hot 107.9 changing formats to classic hip hop?

The radio trades seem to think so.

RadioInsight is reporting that the Radio One Urban station has laid off its staff and is changing format to a classic hip hop station, to be known as Boom 107.9, in the same vein as Houston's Boom 92.1. The radio trade publication notes that BoomPhilly.com and Boom1079Philly.com have both been registered as domains, redirecting back to the Hot. 107.9 site. AllAccess.com, another radio trade, is reporting similar news.

The station hasn't tweeted since this morning. Usually, they have a heavy social media presence.
