The Art of Bread in Narberth closes

Owner Amin Bitar said the shop just did not make sense financially.

To explain the great wailing from Narberth: The Art of Bread - the bakery/cafe founded by Georges Perrier in June 2011 - served its last brioche over the holidays.

Amin Bitar, scion of the Bitar's Middle Eastern food family who took it over in 2013 as Perrier closed his empire, said the shop just did not make sense financially.

Bitar says he's looking for a new location for its wholesale operation.

You cannoli handle so much bad news, but be advised that Potito's shut down its storefront at 1315 Walnut St. after three years. The flagship on Ritner Street in South Philadelphia is unaffected.
