Veterans Day food freebies and discounts

On Veterans Day, the nation's restaurants serve the men and women who serve.

Here are specials and freebies aimed at veterans and active-duty military. Note that ID is required:

Applebee's: Free meal.

Aunt Bertha's Kitchen: Free bread pudding or peach cobbler with purchase.

Bar Louie: Free appetizer or entree.

Bob Evans: Free meal from a special menu.

Bonefish Grill: Free order of Bang Bang Shrimp.

Boston Market: Free brownie or cookie with purchase.

California Pizza Kitchen: Free entree from a special menu.

Chili's: Free entree from a special menu.

Chipotle: Buy one, get one small burrito, bowl, or salad from 3 p.m. to closing for veterans, active duty members, and military spouses.

The ChopHouse: 20 percent discount.

Denny's: Free build-your-own Grand Slam breakfast from 5 a.m. to noon.

Fat Jack's: Free pork or chicken sandwich, fries, and drink.

Friendly's: Free breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Golden Corral: Its military appreciation offer, a free meal, is offered from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 14.

Hooters: Free entree.

IHOP: Comp stack of red, white, and blue pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Krispy Kreme: Free doughnut and small coffee.

LongHorn Steakhouse: Free appetizer or dessert, plus 10 percent off for guests who dine with veterans on Nov. 11.

Masala Kitchen: Free lassi with purchase.

McCormick & Schmick's: Free meal from a special menu for veterans and Gold Star honorees.

McDonald's: Veterans and active-duty service members are offered a free all-day Breakfast Extra Value Meal throughout the day.

Miller's Ale House offers a 50-percent discount to those with a military ID.

Mission BBQ: Free sandwich and cake to all veterans; live version of the National Anthem will be played at noon. Also, from Nov. 12 through the end of the year, customers can purchase an American Heroes Cup for $3.99, for which $2 of every sale will go to Wreaths Across America. An estimated $100,000 will be raised.

Ninety Nine: Free lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. from the $9.99 menu with the purchase of any entree.

Olive Garden: Free entree.

On the Border: A free "create your own combo."

Outback Steakhouse: Free Bloomin' Onion and a Coca-Cola; also 15-percent discount for military families from Nov. 12 to Dec. 31.

P.J. Whelihan's: Free 10-piece order of wings.

The Pour House: 20 percent discount.

Red Hot & Blue: Free meals Nov. 9, 10, and 11.

Red Lobster: Free appetizer from a special menu Nov. 10 and 11.

Red Robin: Free Tavern Double Burger.

Ruby Tuesday: Free appetizer, up to $10.

Snap Custom Pizza: Free pizza or salad.

Texas Roadhouse: Free lunch.

T.G.I. Fridays: Free lunch, up to $12.

Tiffin: All veterans, active service members, and first responders eat free, up to $25, dine-in or takeout.

Treno: 20 percent discount.

Wawa: Free coffee.

Wayback Burgers: Free Wayback Classic cheeseburger with purchase of a side and drink.

World of Beer: One free draft beer.
