Jazz? Swing? Roots? Yes. It's MaMaVig at Tin Angel on Thursday
They're a jam band. No, they're a jazz trio. They play old-timey acoustic roots music. No, they're rooted in vintage Parisian-Gypsy swing.

Stop! You're all right if you're talking about MaMaVig, the new collaboration of guitarist Frank Vignola, standup bassist Gary Mazzaroppi and mandolin slinger Jamie Masefield.
All three boast extensive jazz chops, but they've also done lots of winging in the genre-floating, alt-acoustic music scene - Vignola as a member of Mark O'Connor's Hot Swing Trio, Masefield with his exceptional Jazz Mandolin Project, and in collaborations with members of that most worthy jam band, Phish. Mazzoroppi, meanwhile, has toured and recorded with everyone from guitar-fusion instigators Les Paul and Charlie Bryd to mainstream jazz titans Stan Getz, Buddy Rich and Teddy Wilson.
So no matter what they're playing, it's gonna be good.
