Serving up growth
Two neighborhood Philly eateries have expanded their space and menus, satisfying customers' hunger for more good things to eat.
Despite the still-struggling economy in 2010, two neighborhood haunts ended the year by expanding their square footage and their menu offerings.
Under the Oak Cafe in East Oak Lane and the Night Kitchen Bakery in Chestnut Hill are distinctly different eateries.
Both are run by women and their husbands. Both use locally grown ingredients for their artisanal creations, and both operate with environmental sustainability in mind.
And, in a city where the personality of a neighborhood can be palpable, Under the Oak and Night Kitchen represent the heart of their communities. - Dianna Marder
