SUPREME COURT nominee Sonia Sotomayor broke her ankle yesterday morning in an airport stumble, then boarded her flight and flew to Washington to meet with senators who will vote on her confirmation.
In the photo above, she is laughing with Sen. David Vitter, R.-La., who offered her a pillow and an icebag before their meeting. Sotomayor, a federal judge, tripped at New York's LaGuardia Airport and has a small fracture, the White House said.
She also picked up an endorsement. Former first lady Laura Bush said, "I think she sounds like a very interesting and good nominee." *
