NORRISTOWN A criminal defense attorney was arrested Thursday for selling prescription drugs out of his Jaguar parked outside his Norristown office, police said. Gregory Robert Noonan, 53, of the 100 block of Oberlin Terrace in Lansdale, twice sold Oxycodone pills to an undercover Philadelphia police officer outside his law office at 530 Swede St.

Last month, Noonan represented a doctor who was on trial for prescribing Oxycodone to drug addicts and related crimes. The doctor was found guilty on Nov. 22. The next day, Noonan sold the undercover officer 179 30-milligram Oxycodone pills. Noonan sold 180 of the pills to the officer on Dec. 19. Montgomery County police arrested Noonan after the second sale.

Noonan has been charged with two counts each of delivery of controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and related charges. He faces a minimum three-year prison sentence for the delivery of the pills. He faces an additional two-year minimum sentence for selling the drugs within 1,000 feet of Gotwals Elementary School, according to police.

"As you can see from this arrest of a lawyer and our recent successful prosecution of a doctor," Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said in a statement, "no one is above the law, no matter what occupation they hold." Noonan's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 3. - Michaelle Bond
