Man fatally struck by Amtrak train

Authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Delaware.

Delaware State Police said Anthony J. Pellerito, 21, of Claymont, was hit by a southbound Amtrak Acela Express train at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Pellerito was in the track area near the Claymont station in Claymont, Del.

Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The train was carrying 297 passengers at the time of the incident, police said. No one else was injured.
