An Indian gigolo who authorities say preyed on his fellow countrywomen is in custody after one of his alleged victims lured him into a trap at a posh Center City condo building.
Police say the man they know as Jay. D. Singh but who holds several passports romanced his way into the bank accounts of at least three Philadelphia area women, ages 26 to 28, taking them for about $40,000.
Investigators suspect there are more victims and want to hear from them.
Singh, 32, met the women on websites catering to Indian singles and used their credit cards and stole their identities to fund a jet-setting lifestyle that took him on trips to Canada, London, Morocco and India, police say.
Detectives arrested Singh on Monday night when he showed up to meet one of his alleged victims for a drink at the Dorchester on Rittenhouse Square.
The woman was working with the detectives.
Police have charged Singh with a slew of offenses, including theft, forgery, identity theft, unlawful use of computer and defrauding creditors.
They say he also is known as Jaitass Dhanoa Singh, Jay Dhanoa Singh, and Dhanoa Singh.
Detectives are still piecing together his story and suspect the investigation might go international.
Possible victims or anyone who has information are asked to call South Detectives at 215-686-3013.
