A 43-year-old high school teacher in Burlington County was charged Wednesday with making upskirt videos and photos of his female students, authorities said.

Eric Howell, a chemistry teacher at Lenape High School in Medford since last year, allegedly concealed a camera in a coconut water box that was then placed on the side of his briefcase and made illicit recordings of three students. On May 2, someone noticed him allegedly passing behind a female student and extending his arm sideways in an attempt to position the camera under her skirt.

School officials immediately notified police and banned Howell from school property and school events. Howell, of Maple Shade, was charged with two second-degree counts of endangering the welfare of a child, one second-degree county of official misconduct, and four third-degree counts of invasion of privacy. He was being held at Burlington County Jail pending a court appearance Thursday.
