Police are looking for a 25-year-old man in a double stabbing in South Philadelphia that left his ex-girlfriend critically wounded and her mother dead.

"We know who he is," Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters outside the house on the 2700 block of Daly Terrace where the attack unfolded.

Police said the man attacked his 21-year-old girlfriend and her 48-year-old mother about 2 a.m. Thursday and then fled on foot.

The mother was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where was pronounced dead at 4:02 a.m., police said. The daughter was reported in critical condition at a hospital.

Small said the suspect was upset because the younger woman had recently “dumped” him.
