Soccer history. Tierce says he has played since about age six. He was a varsity letter-winner at Eastern as a sophomore on a team that won the Olympic Conference American Division and was a first-team all-conference selection at forward last year. Tierce plays club soccer for the South Jersey Barons and is looking to compete in college. Frostburg State (Md.), Stevenson (Md.), and Immaculata are among the schools he has considered.

Soccer highlight. Tierce lists playing on the conference-title team as a sophomore with his older brother A.J., now a sophomore midfielder at Roanoke College.

"It was amazing and one of the first times I got to play an entire season with him," Tierce said. "It was very exciting, especially winning the conference."

Scorer's mentality. One reason Tierce is successful is that he's more than willing to take on defenders one on one. He's a true sniper around the net.

"You need to always have an eye for the goal and to put yourself in a situation to anticipate a scoring opportunity," he said.

The final word. "We have great team chemistry at Eastern," he said. "We have known each other for a long time, often hang out together. We combine our friendship with soccer, and it's a great time."
