Camden County remembers 9-11

Local veterans and first responders, including those who served in the War on Terror following the terrorist attacks, are honored at a medal ceremony at the Victims of Terrorism Monument in Cooper River Park in Pennsauken on Thursday Sept. 10, 2026.

Camden County Commissioner Jennifer Cooley Fleisher (left) and State Assemblywoman Melinda Kane (right) visit the Victims of Terrorism Monument following the medal ceremony. Kane is a Gold Star Mother whose 22 year-old son, Marine Lance Corporal Jeremy Kane was killed in 2010 in Afghanistan. He was deeply affected and felt "compelled" to enlist, joining the Marines on Sept. 11, 2006—exactly five years after the terrorist attacks.

The Camden County Board of Commissioners and the Office of Veterans Affairs hosted the event that also included a remembrance marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and residents who died at the Twin Towers and service members who fell in the subsequent War on Terror, and first responders who passed later from 9/11-linked illnesses.

9/11 Remembrance at Philadelphia International Airport

An honor guard comprised of members of the Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Philadelphia Police Department Airport Division marched through the airport terminals, stopping at each security checkpoint for a moment of silence to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, at Philadelphia International Airport in Philadelphia.
