Toronto’s Nick Nurse is one of the best coaches in the league, so Tyrese Maxey can expect plenty of attention Monday night after scorching the Raptors for 38 points two nights ago.

From a betting standpoint, Maxey’s individual prop is 18.5 points, but shopping is crucial. The odds on Maxey having more than 18.5 points at BetMGM is -130. At PointsBet, it’s a little cheaper at -115. FanDuel is even better at -110.

DraftKings is tops among those expecting the Raptors to actually guard Maxey. They’re offering +100 on Maxey scoring less than 18.5 points. BetMGM is -105. For Maxey to hit more than 2.5 three-pointers, FanDuel is at +118.

“Often there’s an over-correction,” said Jay Croucher, head of trading for PointsBet. “You would think Toronto will go out of its way to stop Maxey from going off again. But we are offering a lot of Maxey markets because Game 1 was his show.”

Croucher brought up that his company has a +2500 prop for Maxey to again lead all scorers in points. Maxey to score 30+ has been boosted from +650 to +1000.

“I don’t think Maxey’s going to go off [again], but at the same time it is the playoffs,” Croucher said. “Maybe there’s something about the matchup with Toronto. If this is his norm going forward, then this is going to be a quick series.”
