Two years later, Drexel basketball player's untimely death leaves loved ones longing for answers

Former Drexel University men's basketball player Terrence Butler was an intelligent and beloved student-athlete who seemed to have the world at his fingertips, and when he took his own life on Aug. 2, 2023, leaving behind a grieving family looking for reasons. But the story of Butler's life and death -- his mostly silent battles with anxiety and the pressure he felt to excel -- lays bare the terrifying truth about suicide among young men, especially young Black men. It's a truth that experts acknowledge and that parents must understand: There's no way to see a tragedy like this coming.
