Drexel’s leading scorer, Shane Blakeney, is entering the transfer portal.

Blakeney, a 6-foot-5 guard, averaged 14.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 33 games this season. He saw the most action on the floor, averaging 33.7 minutes, and was a key part of Drexel’s defense with 37 steals and 23 blocks.

The junior spent four years at Drexel and made strides to become a starter. He redshirted his freshman season, appeared in 22 games off the bench in his second year, and was the Dragons’ sixth man last season, when he scored 7.5 points per game.

He led the Dragons to a 17-16 record this season, 10-8 in the Coastal Athletic Association. Drexel was eliminated by Monmouth in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.

He’s the second starter from coach Zach Spiker’s lineup to enter the transfer portal. This week, junior guard Kevon Vanderhorst announced his intentions to play elsewhere next season.
