Police are searching for a person in a horror-movie mask who has harassed multiple Center City pedestrians in recent days.
Officials say the suspect — a young man who police believe may be filming the encounters for social media — approached a 40-year-old woman near City Hall last Wednesday and made threatening comments while holding his hand behind his back.
The incident unfolded around 5:30 a.m. on the 1500 block of JFK Blvd. while the woman was out for a jog, authorities said.
The frightening encounter caused her to stumble and injure herself as she fled to a nearby SEPTA station.
On Tuesday, images of the suspect wearing a mask resembling the evil doll from the Chucky slasher movie franchise went viral on social media, while other Philadelphians recounted similar confrontations in recent days.
Police believe the suspect is a man between the ages of 16 and 20 with a thin build and average height.
Officials are asking anyone who encounters him to call 911 and refrain from approaching.
