A North Philly man shot into a crowded Wawa after arguing with another customer, police say
Dascir Martin, 21, fired into a crowded Wawa on Street Road, police said.
A North Philadelphia man opened fire in a crowded Wawa just over the city’s boundary with Bucks County on Wednesday, police said.
Dascir Martin, 21, has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, carrying a gun without a license, and related offenses. He remained in custody Friday at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10% of $1 million bail. There was no indication he had hired an attorney.
Martin admitted to police that he fired nine shots from a 9mm handgun into the Wawa on Street Road near Kingston Way in Bensalem after getting into a heated argument with another customer inside the store, according to the affidavit of probable cause for his arrest.
The intended victim was not injured, nor were any other customers or employees.
Investigators responding to the shooting about 3 p.m. Wednesday recovered surveillance footage that showed Martin firing the gun outside of the store, and then fleeing across the street to a nearby Best Western hotel, the affidavit said. An officer saw Martin in the hotel’s parking lot, but he refused to stop and fled.
He was arrested not far from the hotel, and police recovered a 9mm handgun nearby, the affidavit said.
