Man dies after Memorial Day boat crash into Barnegat Bay marker
Authorities said Gunnar Pearson was one of six people on a boat that hit the marker around 5:45 p.m. on Memorial Day.
A 28-year-old man died after a boat crashed into a day marker in Barnegat Bay on Monday evening, according to New Jersey State Police.
Authorities said Gunnar Pearson was one of six people on a boat that hit the marker around 5:45 p.m. on Memorial Day.
Pearson and one other person on the boat were ejected from the vessel as a result of the crash, then transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Pearson died as a result of his injuries, according to state police.
The remaining people aboard the vessel were also taken to a hospital for minor injuries.
New Jersey State Police said the crash remains under investigation.
