Was tax administrator dumped for political views?

Did politics play a role in the firing of a state tax official in Pittsburgh? Terrence Kennelly thinks so.

Did politics play a role in the firing of a state tax official in Pittsburgh?

Terrence Kennelly thinks so.

He's the former administrator of the Pittsburgh office of the Department of Revenue, who is filing a federal suit against his ex-boss, Secretary of Revenue Daniel Meuser, claiming political discrimination.

A lawyer for Kennelly - a Democrat and not a supporter of Gov. Corbett  - told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette his client was fired without cause in August, six months after Corbett took offfice.

Kennelly was replaced by a Republican councilman from Monroeville who was a vocal supporter of Corbett's, his attorney said.

Coincidentally, Kennelly - who wants his job back plus damages -  is from Shaler, Corbett's hometown.
